Teen Kidnapped From Philly Recovered In NJ: FBI

Investigators had information that the 17-year-old was being held at a location in Leonia. A man was shot in a confrontation with the FBI.

LEONIA, NJ — The FBI shooting that resulted in the death of a man early morning on Wednesday happened in connection to an ongoing investigation of a kidnapped Philadelphia teen, according to the FBI.

Investigators had information that the 17-year-old boy was being held at a location in Leonia and available resources were deployed in an effort to return him to safety, the FBI said.

Early that morning, FBI Newark agents responded to that location, leading to the confrontation with the man who was fatally shot, officials said.

The boy was safely taken to the hospital for evaluation and released

The FBI’s Inspection Division is conducting an investigation in regards to the shooting incident, in accordance with FBI protocol.

The kidnapping investigation is ongoing and no more information has been released.
