These Fort Lee Educators Earn $150K Or More

One administrator earns $195,000, records show.

FORT LEE, NJ — Some Fort Lee school administrators earn more than $150,000, information released by the New Jersey Department of Education shows.

The administrators are among the 1,552 on the department's list of superintendents and principals and their salaries released annually.

The local administrators, their salaries, years of service, and their rank on the list, are:

Superintendents and assistant superintendents:

136. Kenneth Rota, three years, $195,000

628. Haqquisha Taylor, two years, $159,173

Principals and assistant principals:

400. Rosemary Giacomelli, School No. 1, 39 years, $160,156

533. Jay Berman, School No. 3, 50 years, $156,519

The list has grown recently. Last year, fewer than 1,000 principals and superintendents made $150,000 annually.

In 2018-2019, the median salary for administrators $123,923, according to a Patch analysis of salary data for public school districts and charter schools. The increase was less than 1 percent above the previous year's median salary.

The Department of Education has said the department double-checks the data before delivering it to the media.
