Drunk Driver Fled Accident Scene: Hackettstown Police
Jeffrey Fuchs was found with an open bottle of vodka in his car, police said.
HACKETTSTOWN, NJ - A 57-year-old Allamuchy Township man was arrested and charged driving while intoxicated after fleeing the scene of an accident Wednesday, according to the Hackettstown Police Department.
Mansfield Township Police responded to Route 57 in the area of Newburgh Road for a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident and the vehicle fled east on Route 57 and Hackettstown Police picked up the call and found the car at the River Star Diner, authorities said. The Hackettstown officer saw the vehicle with damage to the front driver’s side and the passenger side tire was off the rim.
The driver was identified as Jeffrey Fuchs and through an investigation it was determined he was driving while intoxicated, authorities said. The officer located an open bottle of vodka inside the vehicle and Fuchs was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and possession of an open container of alcohol.
