Drunk Driver Fled Accident Scene: Hackettstown Police
Jennie Worthington smacked her pickup truck into a utility pole, according to authorities.
HACKETTSTOWN, NJ - A 46-year-old Mansfield Township woman was charged with driving while intoxicated after she left the scene of an accident on Wednesday, according to the Hackettstown Police Department.
According to authorities, Hackettstown police were called to Route 182 and East Avenue at 5:41 p.m. for a report of a motor vehicle crash. Police determined Jennie Worthington of Mansfield Township was driving a 2020 GMC pickup truck and when she made the left turn onto Route 182 from East Ave, she struck a utility pole, police said.
According to authorities, the impact caused the front passenger tire to become dislodged and Worthington then drove away from the scene. A witness followed the vehicle to a residence on Highview Terrace in Mansfield Township, police said. Prior to officers arriving on scene, it was reported that the vehicle was on fire and being extinguished with a garden hose.

When officers arrived on scene they saw Worthington’s heavily damaged vehicle in the driveway, but there was no active fire, police said. It was determined that Worthington was under the influence of alcohol, police said.
No injuries were reported. Worthington was charged with driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, and reckless driving, police said. Worthington was released pending a court appearance.
