Heat Wave Warning Issued by Hackettstown Police

Staying indoors, drinking lots of water suggested.

With temperatures expected to reach over 100 degrees this week, Hackettstown police are warning residents to stay indoors and stay hydrated.

The police department issued a warning on Facebook, explaining that temperatures are expected to reach between 100 degrees and 104 degrees on Wednesday.

"A period of very hot and humid weather is expected for this week," the police department said.

To combat the high heat, the department offered a few suggestions:

  • Drink more fluids (but less fluids with caffeine)
  • Stay indoors
  • Take a cool shower over using an electric fan
  • Wear lighter clothing
  • Check on neighbors
  • Limit outdoor activity to morning and evening hours
