Boy Hit in Head By Errant Paintball Shot, Police Say

Hackettstown man charged with disorderly conduct for the incident.

A Hackettstown man was arrested Friday after a paintball he shot struck a kid in the head on Valentine Street, police said.

Joseph Banghart Jr., 44, was charged with disorderly conduct after police determined it was his paintball that struck a juvenile in the ear shortly before 4 p.m. Friday, Sgt. Darren Tynan said.

Banghart had been shooting the paintball gun into the street, Tynan said. The boy refused medical attention and Banghart was released pending a court appearance.
