Man Abandoned Dog In Move To California: Hackettstown PD
Police say the man promised to come back for the dog, before moving to California and cutting off contact.
HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — A Hackettstown man has been charged after allegedly moving to California and abandoning his dog in New Jersey, police said.
Police say Gabriel Perez, 30, of Hackettstown, moved out of his apartment in May 2019 and went to California. He asked someone else to take care of the pit bull until he was able to come back for the dog, but police say Perez never returned, and no one has been able to contact him.
Animal Control Solutions took the dog from the River's Edge Garden Apartments last week. Perez has been charged with abandoning a domestic animal and has a pending court appearance.
