Cops: Man Attempts to Flee Officers Serving Outstanding Warrant

Jeffrey Moreira was charged with possession of a hypodermic needle and resisting arrest.

A Hackettstown man was caught Friday after fleeing from officers who were attempting to arrest him for an outstanding warrant, police said.

Officers tried to deliver a $100 Mansfield Township municipal court warrant to Jeffrey Moreira, 22, at a residence in the 100 block of Water Street when the man fled the scene, Sgt. Darren Tynan said.

After a brief search, the officers found Moreira hiding between nearby trees, Tynan said, noting that the man was discovered with a hypodermic needle in his possession.
