Honoring Dr. King, Municipal Meetings This Week
The Hackettstown Community Band makes music, the American Sewing Guild talks stitches and more this week.

Here's what you need to know for the week ahead.
- The Municipal Building, Hackettstown public schools and the Hackettstown Free Public Library will be closed Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Good opportunity to ponder freedom, equality and the dignity of each and every human being we encounter.
- Hackettstown's American Sewing Guild holds its monthly meeting Monday in the Blue Room of the Community Center, 293 Main St., from 7-9 p.m. Attendees are asked to enter through the front door; the meeting is behind the first door on the left.
- The regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the Hackettstown Zoning Board of Adjustment takes place Tuesday at 7:30 at the Municipal Building. The board will take up zoning applications involving the Hackettstown Board of Education and Beede Properties, Inc. The location is Municipal Hall, 215 Stiger St.
- Mayor Maria DiGiovanni and the Hackettstown Town Council hold their second regular meeting of the month Thursday at 7:30 p.m. No agenda had been released in advance of the gathering by press time. Town Clerk has also announced via the town website that the Mayor and Council will hold budget workshop sessions on Jan. 25 and Feb. 15 at 9 a.m. Meetings will be held in the Municipal Building.
- The Hackettstown Community Band holds its weekly meeting every Thursday from 7:30-9:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Hackettstown Community Center, 293 Main St. If you're a musician, you're welcome; there are no auditions, no fees. You must, however, be able to read music and have your own wind instrument. For percussionists, equipment is provided. For more information, visit www.hackettstownband.org.
