Hackettstown Schools Receive More Than $30K in Donations

Here's a list of the donations made to the Hackettstown Board of Education during the 2012-13 school year.

We all know the Board of Education often approves donations during their meetings, but what are those donations actually for and how much do the add up to?

The Hackettstown Board of Education approved $30,665.20 in donations during the 2012-13 school year from a variety of sources, including the JP Morgan Chase Foundation, various PTAs in the district, ShopRite of Mansfield, the Boosters and local churches, businesses and individuals in town.

The largest donation was made by Steve Somers, who gave $10,740 for a mechanical batting cage for the baseball and softball programs.

Seven individuals donated to the Doug Black scholarship, offering a total of $3,500 in memory of a former Hackettstown student who died of a rare form of cancer.

No anonymous donations were made.
