CarePlus Launches Transportation Initiative with Uber Health

Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.– Care Plus NJ, Inc. (“CarePlus”), a pioneer in integrated primary and behavioral health services for adults and children, announces an initiative with Uber, the ride-sharing platform, through its HIPAA-compliant technology solution, Uber Health. The initiative with Uber Health enables CarePlus to provide safe, reliable, on-demand and pre-scheduled rides to those traveling to and from appointments.

The access to transportation provided by Uber Health is part of a larger initiative by CarePlus to expand access to comprehensive and coordinated treatment and care. The service will allow those receiving primary medical care and behavioral health services at CarePlus facilities to obtain convenient transportation provided through Uber Health. CarePlus staff is able to request and coordinate rides through a centralized dashboard, with individuals alerted to their ride details on their phone. Riders do not need the Uber app, or even a smartphone, to get a ride with Uber Health because they will receive a text message with the information on their phone.

“People miss appointments every day for vital outpatient services, including ambulatory detox and psychiatric evaluations,” said Jeremy Levy, Associate Vice President of Strategy and Innovation at CarePlus. “Lack of reliable transportation is one of the leading causes of missed appointments and can particularly impede access and continuity of care for underserved populations, such as veterans and justice-involved individuals. Working with Uber Health will enable CarePlus to connect individuals to care they would otherwise not receive due to transportation barriers.”
