'Caring' WWII Vet Wallace Lowensten, 90, Dies
He was secretary director emeritus of the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs.

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ — Wallace "Wally" W. Lowensten, 90, a World War II veteran and borough high school graduate, died Tuesday.
Lowensten was a "caring and generous man" who "gave selflessly to his neighbors, strangers, and countless animals," his obituary states.
Lowensten enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1945 and served in Guam until 1949.

After serving in the military, he attended Fairleigh Dickinson University. He was graduated in 1961.
He married Virginia Budka in 1974.

Lowensten worked for decades alongside his brother, running the family business, W.W. Lowenstein Inc., a food processing equipment company in Newark until he retired.
He was secretary director emeritus of the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia; daughter Barbara; son Michael; son-in-law Kenny Mann, daughter-in-law Theresa Fortanascio; brother Robert; sister-in-law Linda; sister Jean; brother-in-law Robert; grandchildren Adrianna, Claudia, Justin, Tyler, Dylan; and great grandchildren Kylie and Emalynn.
Visitation with the family is Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Road, in Oradell. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
