Police: Body Found in Hackensack River Identified, No Sign of Foul Play

Investigators have identified the body of a man pulled from the Hackensack River Sunday and found no signs of foul play in the death, police said Monday. 

Police are withholding the man's name until his next of kin can be notified, Hackensack Detective Capt. Thomas Salcedo said. There were no signs of trauma to the body, the captain said. 

A pedestrian walking on the East Anderson Street bridge spotted the body around 5 p.m. Sunday and called 911, Salcedo said. Hackensack firefighters and police recovered the body and turned it over to the Bergen County Medical Examiner's Office. 

The discovery led police to block a section of Cedar Lane in Teaneck for hours while investigators worked at the scene.
