HOBOKEN, NJ — A Hoboken councilman has some good news about a local eyesore, he says.

“In January 2019, the City Council approved a contract to engineering firm Remington & Vernick to conduct an inspection of the property. In order for the engineers to gain access to the property the City of Hoboken had to pursue an order to show cause from the courts which was given in mid-July. After inspecting the property, R&V deemed it to be unsafe and in danger of collapse in some portions. Hoboken will be sending out a request for proposals to demolish the property and the demolition costs have already been appropriated in our 2019 budget.”
Ramos said that the city is hoping to recoup the costs of the demolition, but no matter what, “the building will be coming down.”
