Holmdel Home Once Owned by Bruce Springsteen Still for Sale

It's in this old farmhouse that Springsteen began recording "Darkness on the Edge of Town." ​

Holmdel, NJ - The old farmhouse in Holmdel where Bruce Springsteen once lived and rehearsed with the E Street Band has now been on the market for 112 days, without a buyer in sight.

The address is 7 The Summit in Holmdel and it's a 6,000-square foot historic 19th-century farmhouse built in 1850. Springsteen lived at the property in the late '70s and early '80s. The E Street Band would come over and practice in a former barn on the property. It's now a four-car garage. You can view the whole listing on Realtor.com. It's in this old farmhouse that Springsteen told the Wall Street Journal he began recording the album "Darkness on the Edge of Town."

Springsteen moved into the Holmdel farmhouse having just completed his "Born to Run" tour, following the success of his incredibly popular 1975 breakout album "Born to Run." According to a documentary about the making of "Darkness on the Edge of Town," Springsteen was tremendously in debt after that tour and ensnared in a legal battle with a former manager. He needed to hunker down in Holmdel to write. The result was "Darkness on the Edge of Town."

Springsteen paid $700 a month when he first moved in in 1976, according to the Asbury Park Press. The property used to rent for $5,000 a month, but now the asking price is a cool $3.2 million. Taxes alone are $25,449.93.

When Bruce lived there, neighbors called the property "Boss Acres" and "Thrill Hill." Springsteen now lives in Colts Neck.

According to the Press, this video is from the band performing "Save My Love," on the property in 1976.
