Last Chance to See the Bee!

Last chance to see The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee at TCNJ!

Are you in need of a break from all your daily responsibilities? Do you like slapstick humor and overall having a good time? Come immerse yourself in a welcoming and warm atmosphere at TCNJ’s production of The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee tonight at 8! This is your last chance, seats are selling fast and I can assure you this is a show you do not want to miss.
The show centers around socially awkward sixth graders who find themselves by participating in an annual spelling bee. They feel the immense pressure of winning for various reasons based on parental and personal pressures. Kind and shy Olive brings her best buddy, the dictionary to the bee, courageous and confident William Barfee uses his “magic foot” to spell out words, former champion Chip faces struggles as being a pubescent teenager, hyperactive Leaf who finds himself spelling on the spur, and Marcy is tired of her constant success.
I had the pleasure of watching a run through of the show, and the students did not miss a beat. With props all around, vibrant colors, and even audience members who get on the stage, you will feel like you’re watching a real spelling bee. Each character has a different quirk and defining personality trait, which allows everyone to be able to identify with at least one of the youngsters on stage and feel the nostalgia of their own childhood. From spelling out words you’ve never heard of before, to crazy dance moves that will shake the whole floor, come see what these spellers have got in store!
