Remote Learning To Be Discussed March 15 By HVRSD Officials
HVRSD has postponed report cards and extended the end of the third marking period.
In addition to educating students, our schools provide support to our community in other important ways. During this time, we will be in contact with families who may be food insecure to provide meals and other supports. We will also work with local community organizations to further support our district families. The Hopewell Valley YMCA will be providing limited child care to families who need it. I have previously written about our district’s commitment to student mental health. During this time it is vitally important that as a community we support each other, and especially our students. Our students are being inundated with conflicting information in the media, and are seeing fear and anxiety in many trusted adults. Children look to us for answers; please support their feelings. These resources from the CDC and NASP can be used as a guide for having these conversations with your children. School Counselors and Child Study Team members will be available throughout the closure should you require assistance.

On Sunday evening, I will share specific guidance regarding our remote learning program. If you need any assistance, please reach out. Academics should not serve as an additional source of stress or anxiety during this time. Toward that point, we have postponed report cards and extended the end of the third marking period.
Many questions remain about sports and school events, and we will work to provide answers in the coming days and weeks.

The forecast for the coming weeks is mild. Time spent outdoors is beneficial for our mental health and well-being. Organizations like FoHVOS and The Watershed Institute Trail System provide great options in our community.
