Contested General Election Underway In Jefferson Township

Three seats and six candidates looking to fill them this fall.

JEFFERSON, NJ - The primary election season has given way to a contested general election season in Jefferson as the July 7 election results are complete, according to Morris County Clerk Ann Grossi.

For the Republicans, Robert Birmingham was the top vote-getter with 1,541 while Jay Dunham and H. Ronald Smith earned their party's nomination with 1,370 and 1,216 votes respectively.

Their general election opposition is Democratic top vote-getter Pamela Fadden who nabbed 1,428 votes alongside Maria Short and Keith Peters who tallied 1,412 and 1,410 votes respectively.

Across Morris County voter turnout was approximately 98,776 out of 369,658 registered voters. Or 26 percent.

The general election is currently scheduled for Nov. 3.
