Ex-Friends That 'Don't Like Each Other' Arrested: Jefferson PD

JEFFERSON, NJ — Jefferson Township police made multiple arrests between May 2 and June 11, including for a fight between two former friends who "just don't like each other." Read about recent police activity, as written by police, in the blotter here:

5/2/2019: Matthew Dean, 20, of Wharton was arrested after becoming involved in a physical altercation at B&J Market at 0811hrs. It appears they were former friends and just don’t like each other. The victim was transported to Saint Clares with a possible broken nose. Mr. Dean was found in possession of CDS and was arrested. He was processed and issues a summons for Possession of CDS, Possession of CDS in a MV and Simple Assault. Court date is pending.

5/3/2019: Mario Martinez, 49, of Lake Hopatcong was stopped on Prospect Point Rd after striking a curb. Further investigation revealed Mr. Martinez was under the influence of alcohol and was arrested. He was transported to Jefferson Township Police Headquarters to be processed. Mr. Martinez was issued several motor vehicle summons and released pending a future court date.

5/4/2019 MV Crash / DWI P.O. Stokes : Scott Garder, 55, of Bloomfield was arrested after striking a guide rail in West Milford and traveled on Cozy Lake Rd until being stopped by P.O. Stokes. Mr. Garder was arrested and transported back to Jefferson Township Police Headquarters for processing. He was issued several MV summons and released pending a court date.

05/11/2019: Sean McCann, 24, of Wantage, NJ was stopped for traveling on Prospect Point Rd. doing 10 MPH, swerving side to side and almost striking the guard rail. Further investigation and sobriety testing revealed Mr. McCann was under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested, processed and issued several MV Summons pending a future court date.

05/11/2019 : Mala Garib-Chaudhary, 54, of Newark was stopped on Prospect Point Road. Further investigation revealed Ms. Garib-Chaudhary was in possession of marijuana. She was placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters where she was processed and released on a summons, pending a court date.

05/13/2019: Walther Bejarano-Reyes, 32, of Dover, NJ was stopped on Route 15 South for swerving side to side and almost striking a guard rail. Further investigation and sobriety testing revealed Mr. Bejarano-Reyes was under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested, processed, issued MV summons and released pending a court date.

05/17/19: Vincent Castiglione, 45, of Lake Hopatcong, was arrested for DWI after striking a curb at the intersection of Skyline Drive and Rock Ridge Road disabling his vehicle. Mr. Castiglione was transported to Jefferson Township Police Headquarters, processed, issued several MV Summons and released pending a court date.

05/22/2019: Eric Brunner, 54, of Denville, was arrested for DWI after PO Johnson observed a Chevy Silverado failing to maintain its lane of travel on Route 15 South. Mr. Brunner was transported to Jefferson Township Police Headquarters, processed, issued several MV Summons and released pending a future court date.

05/26/2019: Lauren Zito, 25, of Rockaway was arrested for DWI, after falling asleep at the wheel at the Edison Rd/ Rt15 jug handle light. Ms. Zito was transported to Jefferson Township Police Headquarters, processed, issued several MV Summons and released pending a future court date.

5/26/19: Desiree Evangelista, 26, of Bronx, NY was stopped for traveling north on Route 15 South. Further investigation found Ms. Evangelista is possession of marijuana. Ms. Evangelista was arrested and issued a complaint summons for possession of CDS and also several motor vehicles summons pending a future court date.

5/26/19: Jamie Monesano, 35, of Parsippany was arrested for DWI after striking another vehicle in the parking lot of Jefferson House Restaurant. Ms. Monesano was arrested and processed at Jefferson Township Police Headquarters. She was issued several motor vehicle summons and released pending a future court date.

5/28/19: Juan Barrios-Hernandez, 61, of Dover was arrested for DWI after striking another vehicle in the intersection of Routh 15 South and Edison Road. Ms. Barrios-Hernandez was arrested and processed at Jefferson Township Police Headquarters. He was issued several motor vehicle summons and released pending a future court date.

06/11/2019: Thomas McGowan, 76, of Sparta was arrested for DWI after being observed making a right hand turn onto Route 15 south squealing the tires, nearly striking a vehicle located in the right lane. Mr. McGowan was issued motor vehicle summons and released pending a future court date.
