Grassroots Endorsements for Fadden, Peters and Short

Jefferson Township Candidates Vying for Open Municipal Council Seats Receive Endorsements, Release Campaign Video

The team of Fadden, Peters and Short, vying for three open seats on Jefferson Township’s Municipal Council, received a strong endorsement this week from the grassroots organization, ‘NJ 11th for Change.’

Pamela Fadden, Keith Peters and Maria Short, longtime residents of the township announced their candidacy this past spring, with each candidate receiving a strong voter response in the July primary.

“Long dominated by a single party, the increasingly diverse Jefferson Township is ready for leadership that represents its total vibrant population,” NJ 11th for Change noted in the group’s endorsement. The grassroots organization is a nonpartisan coalition “dedicated to advocating for all citizens of New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District,” according to its statement of purpose.

A spokesperson for the coalition added that “Fadden, Peters and Short are well-suited” to become members of the township’s Municipal Council.

The group’s endorsement stated that in addition to all three having deep roots in the area, the three candidates “prioritize protecting and advocating for Jefferson Township’s most precious assets: its abundant and ecologically fragile lakes and forests; its children who deserve access to a quality education; and its businesses, so many of which have struggled to survive during the COVID-19 crisis.”

Additionally, the organization’s statement noted that “All three candidates bring skill and valuable life experience to the job: Fadden, as a veteran educator; Peters, as a waste management consultant well-versed in environmental regulation; and Maria Short, as a public service lawyer who has advocated for victims of domestic abuse and for those struggling with opioid addiction.”

The candidates personally discussed their qualifications and reasons for their candidacy in a newly released video presentation, which can be viewed at https://www.facebook.com/FPS4Jefferson/videos/686324998758703.

“In the time of Covid, our candidates cannot meet safely with large groups of constituents, or meet them door-to-door,” noted campaign chair Janice Bakera. “But the need to get their message to voters is still vital, even as we break from traditional ways of campaigning,” she said.

“We thought the best way for Jefferson residents to get to know the team, is through a video presentation,” added Dylan Terpstra the campaign’s political director. “We strongly encourage residents to view the video and listen to each candidate’s point of view.”
