Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued Throughout N.J. For Storms, Heat

It's nice now, but it's not supposed to be so nice later.
Thunderstorms, some of which could be severe, are possible throughout New Jersey on Tuesday afternoon, with the primary hazard being strong winds, according to the National Weather Service.
The NWS has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook, saying locally heavy rain could result in flooding in poor drainage areas.

A heat advisory has also been issued for Morris County and south, saying the heat index will reach 100 degrees, while the actual temperatures will be in the low 90s.
"A slow-moving front will pull plentiful tropical moisture northward from the Gulf Coast early in the week," AccuWeather Meteorologist Ed Vallee said in an AccuWeather release.

There is the potential for a couple of the strongest storms to produce a tornado as well, according to AccuWeather Storm Warning Meteorologist Alex Avalos.
"Some of the downpours will be capable of producing several inches of rain in only a few hours and inundating low-lying and poor drainage areas," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Andy Mussoline said.
Downpours and locally gusty storms could cause delays near major airport hubs, including in the Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New York City and Boston areas.
Tuesday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 p.m. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 92. Heat index values as high as 100. South wind 7 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a 10th of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Tuesday night: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly before midnight. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 76. South wind 11 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 91. West wind 10 to 13 mph.
Wednesday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Thursday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. Northwest wind 3 to 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
Thursday night: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
