Ingrid Carlson, of Jefferson, Former Picatinny Arsenal Chef, Dies at 78

Carlson was a member of the Vasa Order of America, Frithiof No. 63 of Dover, the Vasa Park Ladies Auxiliary and the Vasa Park Red Hat Ladies.

Ingrid C. Taylor Betcher Carlson died at her Oak Ridge home on Oct. 11 at the age of 78, according to a notice on the website of Wharton's Bermingham Funeral Home.

Carlson was born in Ashland, N.H. and moved to Sweden until returning to the Union Hill section of Denville at the age of 12. She lived in Rockaway Borough most of her life until moving to the Oak Ridge section of Jefferson in 2001.

Ingrid was a chef at Picatinny Arsenal for over 20 years, retiring in 2007. She was fondly known as “Ma” or "Mom" to everyone.

She was a member of the Vasa Order of America, Frithiof No. 63 of Dover and a 52 year member of NJ District 6 as well as the Vasa Park Ladies Auxiliary and the Vasa Park Red Hat Ladies.

Carlson is survived by her childrenKristina Orlandi and husband Christopher of Oak Ridge, Tarri-Jo Carlson of Daytona Beach, Fla., Ingrid Enright and husband Joe of Oakland and J. Erik Carlson and wife Eileen of Jefferson Township; granddaughters Melissa and Victoria Enright and Anna Carlson; siblings Raymond Taylor and wife Ila of South Pasadena, Fla., Ellen Reilly and husband Vince of Wall Twp. and Victor Betcher and wife Barbara of Geneseo, Il.; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Funeral arrangements were managed by Bermingham Funeral Home, 216 S. Main St., Wharton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Carlson's memory to Vasa Home Park, 1 Vasa Drive; Hackettstown, NJ 07840.
