Joke Started Threat Rumor In Jefferson Schools: Officials

There is no threat against the schools, and they are open as usual.

JEFFERSON, NJ — A social media joke made by a student sparked a bomb threat scare, Jefferson school officials said. There is no threat.

Officials said a student made a joke online which led some to believe there was a threat. That rumor evolved to include that schools would be closed on Tuesday, something officials say is not true.

"It is important to note that at no time has there been a bomb threat to any of our schools. Our High School administration took this case of making a false alarm very seriously and immediately started an investigation into the origin of the post," officials said on the district website.
