After the fall of Saigon, he returns to America and starts a new life with a new wife. He is later informed that he has a son by the Vietnamese Girl. He returns to Saigon and promises to take care of his son, but when she realizes that she can never return to American as his wife, she kills herself.
Madeline says, "I really wanted to play Gigi, this sassy, carefree, frivolous character who entrances all the men in the bar. I like to portray female characters that are not only independent but risk-takers in their time." Director, Jackie Burt explains, "To me as a history teacher, I always want to offer a history lesson and moral thought questions in the show. ‘Miss Saigon’ tackles so many tough issues for our times — immigration, how we treat our military and veterans and discrimination and women’s rights.”
