An extensive search has been underway for a man who went underwater this weekend in New Jersey, police say.

State police marine, aviation and dive teams were expected to resume a search for an unidentified man who went underwater and did not resurface Saturday on Lake Hopatcong, according to nj.com.

Police were called to the scene in Jefferson at 10:51 a.m. Saturday and searched for next nine hours until darkness set in, police told nj.com.

The three state police rescue units were assisted by the Jefferson Fire Department. State police units included boats, divers and a helicopter, according to nj.com.

Hopatcong Lake Regional News said the man was water skiing in the cove when the accident occurred. The publication published a video of the scene.
