Medical Center Moving Into Old Jefferson Pathmark
"We all wanted a food store. But no one was interested even after it being offered at half the rental market rate," Mayor Russ Felter said.

JEFFERSON, NJ — A medical center will be moving into the old Pathmark building on Route 15, Jefferson Mayor Russ Felter said.
The news might be disappointing to some locals who had been looking forward to another grocery store. Felter said the town and the developer did all they could to attract one, but no one was interested.
"We all wanted a food store. But no one was interested even after it being offered at half the rental market rate," Felter said in an official town Facebook group.

"The owners of this property spent a lot of time marketing the property. They offered to lease it for half of the market rate. No one wanted it. We hired a redevelopment company to help revitalize the site. They reached out again to many grocery stores. Again no one was interested," Felter said.
Two other groups beside the medical center were interested, but neither would have benefited the town, Felter said. He did not say what type of medical center it would be specifically, but did say it would be a specialized operation.
