Middle School To Kick Off Positive Behavior Program

Congressman Frelinghuysen to be on hand for the celebration.

Jefferson Township Middle School applied to be a participating school in a program to help students succeed academically and socially in a positive learning environment, and their application was accepted.

Positive Behavior Support in Schools (PBSIS) will kick off on Friday at the school, according to a press release from the school, with a visit from Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen. The program is a partnership between the New Jersey Department of Education and the Elizabeth M. Boggs Center of Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

During the month leading up to the kick-off, students participated in a variety of lessons geared to demonstrating the expectations of behavior for the school. JTMS’s school theme is, “We are Respectful, Accountable, Positive students.”

Students that demonstrate positive behaviors and follow school expectations are rewarded with “Falcon Rappers” by school faculty and staff, the press release said.

The kick-off will be a fun celebration of the program, with activities including team-building exercises, a picnic lunch, and a culminating pep rally.
