Picatinny Arsenal Blasts Reportedly Heard Through County

JEFFERSON, NJ— Local residents were buzzing on social media about booms heard earlier this morning, wondering, where was it coming from?

Residents from across the county, including Mendham, Kinnelon and Jefferson took to Facebook to question the source of the rumbling boom noises they were hearing.

The answer was simple: it was the arsenal.

"Picatinny Arsenal conducted explosive tests this morning," Frank Misurelli, a public affairs specialist, told Patch. "Picatinny Arsenal often conducts outdoor explosive tests on munitions during day time hours and during the week day."

No official complaints were went to Picatinny Arsenal, he said.
