Prescribed Burns In Jefferson On Wednesday
Residents might notice smoke in the targeted areas.

JEFFERSON, NJ — Three areas in Jefferson will see controlled burns on Wednesday, March 20, police said.
The golf course on Cozy Lake Road, the field on Berkshire Valley Road by Taylor Road, and the wildlife area on lower Berkshire Valley Road will all see fire activity by the New Jersey Forest Fire department. Residents might see smoke, but there is no cause for concern.
Controlled burns prevent the risk of forest fires by burning vegetative fuels, like falls trees and dried leaves, in a controlled manner. The Morris County Parks Commission has been working with the state to conduct controlled burns in the county since 2010.
