Republicans Win Race For Jefferson Town Council

Republicans Debi Merz and Melissa Senatore are projected to be elected to the council, according to unofficial election results.

JEFFERSON, NJ — Residents in Jefferson elected local representatives during Tuesday's election, including school board members and town council representatives.

Republican Eric Wilsusen is ran unopposed for Mayor. Unless a write-in candidate receives more votes, he will be elected with 5,801 votes.

Republicans Debi Merz and Melissa Senatore defeated Democrats Daniel Malloy and Douglas Helmstetter for the two open seats on the town council. The unofficial election results, with projected winnters marked in bold, are:

  • DEM - Daniel S. Malloy 2,669
  • DEM - Douglas Helmstetter 2,490
  • REP - Debi Merz 4,739
  • REP - Melissa Senatore 4,816

Merz is an incumbent.

Three candidates are the unofficial winners for the three open seats on the school board: Lary Wasserman, Amy Gould, and Christopher Natale.
