Senior Dog Missing In Jefferson Did Not Survive, Owner Says
It was a sad ending for Chase the golden retriever.

JEFFERSON, NJ — Chase, the senior golden retriever missing from Jefferson has been found, owner Jeff Billups said. Sadly, it was not a happy ending; Chase was not found alive.

Have you seen Chase? The senior golden retriever has been missing in Jefferson since Friday morning, and his owner is worried he was snatched.

The pup was last seen on Dover Milton Road in the Oakridge section of town around 7 a.m. on Sept. 14.
"At first I felt he went off to hole up and pass but now I'm feeling he was picked up by someone just a gut feeling because he just vanished so quickly!" owner Jeff Billups said. He called that hunch a "gut feeling."

Jefferson police and the animal shelter are aware that the dog is missing, Billups said. So far, Billups said he has looked in Wantage, Sparta, Newton, Jefferson, Wharton, Dover, Rockaway, Vernon, West Milford, Hamburg, Hardyston, Hampton , Roxbury, Randolph, and Denville, as well as Noah's Ark, and the emergency vets in Newton and Franklin.
