Soccer Coach and Marathon Runner Daniel Batelli Dies at 42

Daniel Batelli was an outdoorsman who loved hiking.

Daniel John Batelli of Oak Ridge, died Oct. 22, 2013 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville at the age of 42.

The Paterson native attended and graduated from Butler High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies from Ramapo College.
He was employed at Hampton-Clarke Veritech in Fairfield as a supervisor in the volatile organics department.

Batelli was a faithful parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle RC Church in Oak Ridge, where he attended with his family. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council # 943 in Butler.

He enjoyed coaching recreational sports in Jefferson Township, most recently for his daughter’s soccer team. Batelli was an avid marathon runner and even competed in a triathlon. He also loved the outdoors and hiking.

Batelli is survived by his wife Tracy, daughters Anna and Rachel Batelli, parents Grace and Tom Batelli of Riverdale, brothers Tom Batelli and wife Geri, and Dennis Batelli; sister Kristy Freeman and husband Quan; sister-in-law Lisa Crane and brothers-in-law Ed Crane and Michael Crane and his wife Karen, mother-in-law Adeline Crane of Oak Ridge, nieces Ashley and Abby Crane, nephews Tom and Joe Batelli and best friend Anthony DiBiase.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place Oct. 26 at St. John Vianney RC Church, in Stockholm. Arrangements were managed by the Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home. Batelli was interred at St. Thomas the Apostle Cemetery in Oak Ridge.
