Community Corner

Thanks, That's All, Just Thanks

Jefferson Township is a great community, and here are many reasons why.

As some of you may have known, I am out on vacation this week. Sometimes vacations can be eventful before they even begin.

On Saturday night I was covering the KISSNATION concert at the Art Bonito  Amphitheater at Camp Jefferson. To make a long story short, I took a pretty bad spill, shattering my left ankle in three different places. In fact, I am writing this story at 3:20 a.m. from my hospital bed. While they may be great for technology, hospitals aren't always the best place for sleeping.

After I fell, so many people were right there to help me, and I want to publicly thank them.

Thanks to my friend Jason Nicholas for letting me squeeze his hand when the pain was unbearable. And thanks to Jason's wife Dina and son Noah for giving him up on what was supposed to be a family night out.

Thanks to Art Bonito; even with the craziness of his schedule on concert night, he took the time to stay by my side.

Thanks to Michelle Grieves, the high school's athletic department secretary and also my friend, for getting me water, wiping my face with cool cloths and other cleaning duties that shall remain nameless.

Thanks to several other people whose faces I remember but whose names I don't. Letting me lean on you and having your comfort was wildly appreciated.

Thanks to the Jefferson Township Police, Officer Jeremy Romash and his partner whose name I don't know. It was comforting to see someone familiar.

Thanks to the Jefferson Rescue Squad, Harry (I believe), Tommy and Jimmy. You helped so much, and my first ever ride down Routes 15 and 80 with lights flashing and sirens blaring was way beyond cool.

Thanks to my friend Dawn James. If you hadn't placed the 911 call, that cool ride may not have happened.

Thanks to KISSNATION for the great entertainment, and taking a break when it wasn't quite planned yet so that everything could go a bit more smoothly.

And finally, thanks to my husband Bob for, well, just for everything.

I'm stil on vacation this week, in no small part thanks to all these folks. I'll see you all next week, perhaps a bit more slowly but still with everything Jefferson needs to know.
