Voter Turnout 'Heavy' in Jefferson

Township officials say the 'heavy turnout' of residents that came out to vote on Tuesday proved that Hurricane Sandy didn't stop them from making it to the polls.

Mayor Russell Felter said the township remained 25 perecent without power as  Jefferson began prepping for the nor'easter on Wednesday.

The candidates for Jefferson Township Council and Jefferson Board of Education ran uncontested this year, and will be sworn in for another term in January.

BOE 1-Year Term Not Filled Yet

The results for the write-in campaigns for the one-year unexpired term on the board of education haven't been tallied yet because the township hasn't received the provisional or mail-in ballots yet.

Gas Rationing May End Monday

Gov. Christie spoke at a press conference in Seaside Park on Friday and said that he might lift gas rationing on Monday.
