UPDATE: Weldon Road Reopened After Downed Power Lines Removed

Power lines and downed trees removed.

4:30 p.m.: Weldon Road has been reopened in both directions after having been closed due to downed power lines caused by a fallen tree at Jessica Court, township officials said.

The tree fell at about 2:30 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, causing lines to come down across the road.

JCP&L had to cut power in the area. The DPW removed the tree from the road. JCP&L then addressed the problem and restored power to the area, according to Captain Eric Wilsusen of the Jefferson Township Police.

There is no clear reason why the tree fell.

“It looks like it was just an old tree that rotted out and fell,” Wilsusen said.
