Where in the Township Can People Volunteer?

Patch received a letter from a reader recently asking us about places to volunteer in town. Here's what she had to say:

I'm looking for some volunteering opportunities.  Now that I work a "normal" M-F 8-6 job it's a little more feasible and I want to get back to being involved. Do you know of any opportunities in or around town? You are in the know about pretty much everything so I was hoping you might have some ideas!

Of course we came up with the fire departments, rescue squads, animal shelter and the Jefferson Arts Committee. But we're not as much in the know as you are, so we thought we'd put the question out to our Patch readers: Where do you go to volunteer in town?
