JERSEY CITY, NJ — Ground was broken on City Line East Thursday, the next phase of the $400 million University Place redevelopment plan.
City Line and local officials took shovels to the ground, the first step in the development of the 198-unit luxury unit complex located next to the more than $400 million University Place redevelopment plan.
Like its sister development, City Line West, City Line East's units will have built-in Wi-Fi, smart home technology, and be Alexa-ready. The complex will also have more than 8,500 square feet of retail space.

"We're looking forward to the next chapter in the City Line project with the groundbreaking of City Line East and hope to be standing here again next year at this time, alongside [The PRC Group of Companies], to celebrate its grand opening and begin to welcome residents to their new homes," Jeff Sica, president and CEO Circle Squared Alternative Investments said at the groundbreaking and ribbon-cutting ceremony for City Line West.
The University Place redevelopment plan will see 22 acres of land transformed in Jersey City's west end. The development is being done through a series of public-private partnerships.
