Caffrey's In Lacey Closes After 2 Workers Test Positive For COVID

Caffrey's received word Monday that two employees had the virus. They closed early and have remained closed since.

LACEY, NJ — Caffrey's Backyard temporarily closed after two employees tested positive for the coronavirus.

The establishment received word Monday evening of the positive cases. They shuttered early and have remained closed since, Caffrey's Tavern wrote on its Facebook page.

Caffrey's announced Thursday morning that they will keep operations closed for the next couple days. They consulted with health officials and reviewed Center for Disease Control guidelines before voluntarily closing.

They wrote the following on Facebook:

"Out of an abundance of caution, we have made the decision to close operations for the next couple of days. This decision was made to ensure the safety of our staff and customers.

"We have also utilized the services of a COVID specialist company to sanitize and disinfect all work and customer contact surface areas.

"We sincerely thank you for your loyalty, support, and prayers. Please stay safe."

The Ocean County Health Department has reported 288 total coronavirus cases and 11 deaths in Lacey as of Thursday morning.
