Caffrey's Tavern In Lacey To Reopen Around New Year's
Two years after a fire severely damaged the restaurant, the tavern has a reopening date in sight.

LACEY, NJ— Maybe 2021 really will be different. Two years after a severe fire shut down the interior, Caffrey's Tavern announced they expect to open on or around New Year's Day.
After the accidental fire destroyed Caffrey's Tavern’s main building, the restaurant served customers in The Backyard, an open-air outdoor bar in back of the restaurant. The Backyard is open year-round with a heated bar area and features live entertainment, drink specials and bar food options.
The Backyard has continued its operations throughout the coronavirus pandemic with dining and take-out options.

New Jersey restaurants and bars can operate at 25 percent indoor capacity. But Gov. Phil Murphy recently prohibited them from serving patrons indoors from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
According to Caffrey's Tavern’s Facebook post, the Backyard will remain open every day from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. until their main building reopens next year.
