Crash On Route 9 In Lacey Caused Power Outages

LACEY, NJ — An SUV crashed into a utility pole Wednesday on Route 9 in Lacey. Local police received numerous calls simultaneously about power outages, exploding transformers, disabled traffic lights and fire alarms.

The crash took place at 5:02 p.m. Wednesday, just south of Lakeside Drive South. The driver left the roadway and struck a JCP&L pole, police said.

The driver — a 59-year-old woman — wasn't injured. Police did not reveal her identity or whether any summonses were given.

The crash caused the pole and attached wires to fall into the roadway. Route 9 was temporarily closed while JCP&L restored electricity and supplied power to local traffic lights.
