Dixie’s Legacy Foundation Gives Back

Local non-profit organization held their 2nd annual Park Clean-Up over the weekend at Ocean County Park.

On Sunday, June 2, 2019 over 20 volunteers from Dixie's Legacy Foundation collaborated on an annual Park Clean-Up project for a property once used by financier John D. Rockefeller as a recreational retreat. Dixie's Legacy Foundation volunteers and their families spent the day cleaning up this beautiful and historical property that was donated to Ocean County in 1940 by the Rockerfeller estate. The property spans over 300 acres and is known to contain unique trees that Rockerfeller had imported from all over the country. Hiking trails, an off-leash dog park, fields, and playgrounds are some of the features this park offers. Dixie's Legacy Foundation is a volunteer powered non-profit organization based in NJ helping animals, EMT’s and supporting local communities with the goal of improving the Garden State. Last year they donated over $11,000 to help the homeless animals of Ocean County. Dixie’s Legacy Foundation also offers a scholarship to a New Jersey EMT who chooses to continue his or her career in health care. They are holding a Gift Auction in the fall to benefit the homeless animals of Ocean County as well as the scholarship. Ticket sales begin in July.
