Five Thefts Reported In Lacey Since May 20: Police

Five thefts were reported in Lacey, including a customer taking an employees' wallet at a local business, police said.

LACEY, NJ — Lacey police reported five incidents of theft this past week in their blotter, including a customer taking an employees’ wallet at a local business, police said.

On May 20, police took a theft report from a local business around 7 p.m. An employee saw a customer acting suspicious before they left the store. Afterward, the employee noticed that her wallet was missing, police said. Officer Elton Copes located the customer and recovered the wallet. No criminal charges were filed.

Around the same time of that incident, officer Patrick Watkins responded to the rail trail for a report of a stolen electric bicycle valued at $1,600. A suspect was identified and is being sought, police said.

On Sunday, items valued at $2,500, including a quad and a welder, were reported stolen from a locked shipping container at a Bamber Lake business at 9:15 a.m., police said. An employee told police that an unknown suspect forced entry into the container.

On Tuesday, an 18-foot flatbed trailer valued at $5,000 was taken from a Forked River home overnight, police said. The investigation is ongoing.

The latest incident of theft was reported Wednesday at 6:52 p.m. A child’s scooter, valued at $175, was stolen from the front yard of a Forked River home, police said. Possible suspects were identified and are being sought.
