Lacey Changes Fall Leaf Collection Procedures
Putting leaves out by the curb? Make sure you follow the township's new rules.
LACEY, NJ — Lacey Township passed new procedures for fall leaf collection. Leaves must get bagged in environmentally friendly, biodegradable paper bags that are left open, or in containers no larger than 32 gallons. Then they must be placed on the curb.
Officials passed the amendment to try and alleviate several issues. Bagged leaves can now get placed directly into windrows at the Lacey Compost Site, keeping the town in compliance with regulations from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protections.
The new procedure also eliminates the need for Public Works employees to "unbag" the leaves from plastic bags, and it aids in keeping storm drains claener.
