Lacey Could Get Chipotle, Plus A New Starbucks And Burger King
Which of these three would you want in Lacey? The Planning Board will soon hear applications.

LACEY, NJ — If you thought the Popeyes news was big, check this out. Lacey could get a Chipotle Mexican Grill, plus a new Burger King and Starbucks.
2020 Equities, LLC proposed to build two freestanding restaurants — Chipotle and Burger King — at the site at Route 9 and Sunset Boulevard.
Invest River, LLC also submitted an application to place a Starbucks on 750 Lacey Rd., the former Wells Fargo site, officials confirmed.

The next Planning Board meeting takes place at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 14 in the Municipal Building (818 West Lacey Rd.).
2020 Equities, LLC will request several variances for the site where they want to put Chipotle and Burger King. Here's what the township's public notice says:

"The following variances are requested: Minimum front setback of 73.8 feet to the Sunrise Blvd. Extension where 100 feet is required; minimum front setback for trash enclosure to Route 9 of 23 feet ± whereas 100 feet is required; maximum impervious coverage of 79.4% whereas 70% is permitted (a decrease of approximately 2373 sf from the previous approvals); Building Mounted Enterprise Signs on four sides of one building whereas three sides is permitted; Total Façade Sign Area of 111.75 sf (Chipotle) and 135.13 sf (Burger King) whereas 75 sf is permitted; Freestanding Sign Area of 32.85 sf (menu board) whereas 32 sf is allowed; Six Freestanding Signs (1 monument, 2 preview boards, 2 menu boards and 1 marketing sign) whereas one is permitted. A prior variance granted to the site for shopping center sign size of 153.1 sf will be continued however the length and width will be modified. Applicant will seek waivers from the site plan ordinances for an updated environmental impact statement, business sign in a safety island, curb stops, and one tree per 900 sf of non-improved area. Applicant will seek any and all other variances and/or design waivers which may be requested or required by law."
It appears Lacey will see a major shuffle in chain restaurants. The Planning Board approved in June to allow a Popeyes to open at the former Burger King site in the Lacey Mall.
