Lacey Drug Program Collects Over 5,000 Pounds of Medication

Project Medicine Drop Box, which started in 2013, has collected over 5,000 pounds of medication over the past five years.

LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ - Lacey Township Police's initiative to collect unused medication has seen returns in the thousands. Since its start in 2013, Project Medicine Drop Box has seen over 5,000 lbs. of medication dropped off for safe disposal, according to the Lacey Police Department.

The project is an anonymous way for Lacey Township residents to safely dispose of unused medication, according to the Lacey Police Department. Each dropbox is emptied, weighed and incinerated without the gathering of names of anyone who dropped off the meds. Residents can drop off their medicine in the police station, without the need to check in or leave a name.

For any questions in regard to the drop box, contact Detective Lieutenant Christopher Cornelius at (609) 693-6636 ext 2566.
