Lacey Middle School To Hold In-Person Graduation

The day will be divided into several ceremonies at the high school football field.

LACEY, NJ — Lacey Township Middle School will hold outdoor graduations. Officials will divide the day into several ceremonies July 13 at the high school football field to maintain social distancing.

Parents of eighth-graders voted on how to honor students. With more than 600 responses, most favored an in-person "promotion" ceremony, according to Principal Jason King. Parents will receive another survey July 13 regarding their child's participation in the ceremonies.

LTMS will also show a virtual ceremony at 6 p.m. Wednesday on YouTube. Parents will get an email with the link Wednesday.

Lacey Township High School will honor seniors in person July 10. Officials will share the final plan with students and families once the state approves it. There may be modifications to the ceremony plans up until the week of July 10 as restrictions and guidelines change. Read more: Lacey High School To Hold In-Person Graduation

Through much of the coronavirus pandemic, it remained uncertain whether Governor Phil Murphy would allow live graduation ceremonies. But state officials have changed their guidance for event logistics as they monitor the coronavirus outbreak.
