Lacey Performing Arts Students Earn Several Awards

Several Lacey Township High School students earned awards in band, choir and theatre.

LACEY, N.J. — Several students involved with Lacey Township High School's Performing Arts Department earned awards this school year. Students garnered honors in band, choir and theatre.

Band

  • LTHS Marching Lions Awarded “Esprit De Corp” at the Jackson Memorial High School
  • USBands competition.
  • Students Emily Brennan (oboe), Theodore Vidal (bass clarinet), Carly Zellman (clarinet), and Zachary Stroin (clarinet) were selected to perform with the TCNJ Honors Wind Ensemble. They were chosen among students from many high schools in New Jersey.
  • Students from the Band auditioned for spots in the South Jersey Band and Orchestra Directors Association, New Jersey Region 3 All South Jersey Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band competing against students from high schools across Southern New Jersey. Theodore Vidal was accepted to the Wind Ensemble and came in first overall on his instrument (bass clarinet); Zachary Stroin was accepted into the Wind Ensemble and came in 9th overall on his instrument (clarinet); Carly Zellman was accepted into the Symphonic Band as 1st chair principal clarinet, concert master and came in 10th overall on her instrument (clarinet); Emily Brennan was accepted into the Symphonic Band as 1st chair principal on her instrument (oboe), and Gavin Brennan was accepted into the Symphonic Band (trumpet).
  • LTHS Jazz Band was awarded a rating of “Excellent” at the Allentown High School Jazz Festival and saxophonist Zachary Stroin received the best soloist award.
  • LTHS Jazz Band was chosen as a finalist in the Salute to Ocean County for their performance at the Ocean County Teen Arts Festival and received “Distinguished” ratings from the adjudicator.
  • LTHS Jazz Band was awarded a rating of “Superior” and came in second place overall out of 16 bands competing at the Kingsway High School Jazz Festival, saxophonist Zachary Stroin received a best soloist award.
  • LTHS Jazz Band performed at the Jackson Liberty High School Jazz Festival and came in First Place Overall, won the award for best trumpet section, saxophonist Zachary Stroin won the best soloist award, musicians Gavin Brennan and Michael Glenn were chosen by the judges for "Outstanding Musicianship" awards."

Choir

  • Select Choral Ensemble Choir was selected to perform with Broadway superstar Mandy Gonzalez at Ocean County College.
  • Select Choral Ensemble competed against other Ocean County high schools in the WOBM Christmas Choral Contest.
  • Select Choral Ensemble received “Distinguished” ratings in ALL categories at the Ocean County Teen Arts Festival.

Theatre

  • Emma Davis - Best Comedic Performance by Female Actor, 51st annual Student Theatre Festival, Bucks County Playhouse.
  • Emily Hamilton - her original play, The Day She Fell, was selected for performance at the New Jersey Theatre Alliance Healing Voices Festival.
  • Alexander Lynch - School Champion, Poetry Out Loud (represented Lacey at the Regional Finals at the Count Basie Theatre).
  • Theatre Class - their video 60 Seconds was a finalist in NJ Advance Media’s “Think your high school puts on the best musical?” contest.
