Lacey Police Surprise Lanoka Harbor School Student

Local and state police officers met with 5-year-old Jaxon, an honorary Lacey Township Special Police Officer who suffers from neurofibroma.

LACEY, NJ — Local and state police officers recently met with 5-year-old Jaxon, an honorary Lacey Township Special Police Officer who suffers from neurofibroma.

Jaxon is a huge fan of law enforcement, according to Chief Michael C. DiBella. His family has been making what they call a “tiny superhero” cape for him showcasing a variety of law enforcement patches, including ones from around New Jersey and other states.

Lacey police teamed up with other law enforcement agencies in Ocean County and State Police to give Jaxon more police patches to add to his cape.

About 25 officers met Jaxon outside of the Lanoka Harbor Elementary School on Friday. The New Jersey State Police also organized a helicopter flyover for him.

DiBella said Jaxon and his family modeled a pinewood derby car for the Lion Scouts after one of Lacey's police cars a few months ago, adding that the department appreciates the family’s support.
