Lacey Refuge Saves 'Feisty' Owl Under Car In Little Egg Harbor
After the great horned owl was lured out from under the car, Popcorn Park Animal Refuge staff found he was healthy and "pretty feisty."
LITTLE EGG HARBOR, NJ — Lacey's Popcorn Park Animal Refuge came to the rescue of a young owl hiding under a car in Little Egg Harbor.
A Little Egg Harbor resident called Popcorn Park after finding what he thought was an injured owl under a car in his driveway on May 4, the animal refuge wrote on Facebook.
After the great horned owl was lured out from underneath the car, Popcorn Park Animal Refuge staff found he was healthy and “pretty feisty.” They also determined that he was too young to leave the nest.

When the staff couldn’t locate a nearby nest, they brought the orphaned owl to Toms River Avian Care, since the area was known to be frequented by foxes.
The owl is now being cared for alongside three other orphaned great horned owls until he is ready to be released back into the wild.
