Lacey Resident Delivers Caldwell's Student Commencement Address

Marisa Juliano provided art therapy for coronavirus patients and residents at a senior citizen community.

LACEY, NJ — Marisa Juliano delivered the student commencement address Sunday at Caldwell University's graduation ceremony, and the Lacey resident waited months to do it. The ceremony took place four months after it was originally scheduled because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Juliano, of Forked River, provided art therapy for coronavirus patients and residents at a senior citizen community. She earned a master's in clinical mental health counseling with an art therapy specialization degree. She has an undergraduate degree in psychology and art from Caldwell.

“We displayed resiliency and persevered through the pandemic," she said. "We stand here today in celebration, better, stronger and wiser for it."

Juliano spent several months working with Sycamore Living, a senior wellness community in East Hanover. As a lifestyle engagement associate, Juliano created personal activity kits for isolated seniors.

She was part of a program that helped residents connect with families and staff through Alexa Echo Shows, allowing face-to-face communication when it otherwise wouldn't have been possible.
